A small team with a big dream back in 2014, SkyPoint Technologies now occupy the latest build at Waikato Innovation Park, and they are proudly the namesakes of the state-of-the-art building.
The early days were an exciting opportunity for founders David and Penny Covic along with their friend Roger Salisbury.
“We had an amazing team, a fantastic office space which included farm views here at Waikato Innovation Park – and we were making this start without a single customer,” Penny says.
SkyPoint design, implement and support computer networks and telephone systems for organisations of all sizes. This includes Microsoft cloud hosted servers or local storage solutions, data management, disaster recovery, security, CCTV, conferencing, and communications.
It has been an amazing journey; forming strong partnerships with customers and suppliers throughout New Zealand and beyond, Penny says.
“We have been humbled by the readiness of our customers to refer new opportunities to SkyPoint. These referrals have also included some of the team members working alongside us today.”
They chose to base their business at the Park due to its ‘campus’ friendly environment, the rich innovation and collaborative nature of their fellow tenants.
“Over the years we have seen these qualities consolidate and grow, SkyPoint and its team have always been made to feel welcome and respected. We have a lot of fun together with the Park team and its tenants; it’s a very unique environment.”
Alongside their business growth came an ever-expanding team and the original SkyPoint office in the Gallagher building simply became too small.
“The Park quickly kicked into action, working with us to find our next suitable office space.” At the same time a new building project at the Park was about to commence and it soon became an obvious choice for David and Penny to confirm space in the new building.
“What an exciting day confirming with our team that the next shift would be into the top floor of the brand-new building. The icing on the cake was the surprise news to the team that SkyPoint had been offered the naming rights and the SkyPoint Building would be our new home for years to come. The team are so proud to have their name on the building and love the fresh new office space,” Penny says.
Being a part of a vibrant business community is key to good business, and SkyPoint is delighted with the added profile the new building brings.
“The quality of the building and facilities is enjoyed by our team and customers alike. We are so grateful for all the Park adds to our business. It’s wonderful to be in an environment that not only supports you but encourages big dreams!”
SkyPoint’s core strengths include their team, skills and a collaborative approach to customer and supplier partnerships. Their vision is to be able to make a real difference to those they serve. They seek to be an intentional contributor to the community and have a heart for those organisations making a difference within New Zealand.
