586 Victoria Street open for business

After a multimillion-dollar refurbishment 586 Victoria Street must be one of the best places to work in the Hamilton CBD.

The façade and canopy entry of the building have been transformed to give a sense on entrance while sympathetically tying into the adjacent heritage buildings. Inside, it’s chic, open plan, inviting corporate business meetings or casual café catch-ups.

With intelligent use of space and special attention to detail, Foster Develop has created a space where business is all about the staff and customer experience.

Foster director of development Rhys Harvey says the renovation of 586 Victoria (formerly Sentinel House) was centred around the things that would make a difference to doing business – and to encourage business back into the CBD.

“We thought long and hard about how a modern office environment should work. What was important to business owners and what their staff would really appreciate,” he said.

“For our tenants, it’s about having a great working environment with good facilities and a superior experience for their clients and visitors. ‘End of trip’ facilities (important for a balanced working day) are key features at 586 Victoria, including amenities like showers and a bike storage, so people can bike to work or easily take a shower after exercising during their working day.

“As customers, our tenants appreciate inviting spaces, nice aesthetics, clean environments and modern conveniences.”

Accordingly, Fosters has developed the ground floor as a communal space with a large café and meeting rooms. The corporate style meeting facilities are easily accessible, technology-enabled and limit the need for tenants to build their own within their leased space.

Situated on the banks of the Waikato River and in the heart of the CBD, 586 Victoria is ideal for business, leisure and provides easy access to the river walkways. An attractive glass entrance lobby leads into a brightly lit passageway that takes people from the street front through to the parking at the rear, or up the spine of the building into the offices above.

Levels one to six have been refurbished as open plan office spaces with a high level of finish. Where only 40 people used to work, there’s now capacity for 250. Several businesses (many of them legal firms) have already moved in, buying into the attractive finish, central location and renewed customer experience.  The upper levels provide panoramic views over Hamilton city.

Level one is the last space available for lease. “For the right business, this is a real opportunity to enhance both brand profile and customer experience. All the hard work has been done, it’s a space that is ready for business to move in and for people to enjoy.”
