Future Growth at Waikato Innovation Park

Waikato Innovation Park’s newest addition SkyPoint is testament to the success of the innovation hub that began life 17 years ago.

And there’s more to come with 16 buildings blueprinted for the Ruakura site to align with the park’s vision to foster business growth and innovation, CEO Stuart Gordon says.

“The growth at the Park is a sign both of Hamilton’s growth and of business development in the Waikato.”

A dynamic business space, Waikato Innovation Park is currently home to over 60 businesses. Established in 2004, the Park’s purpose is to create a technology community within the Waikato and to establish the region as New Zealand’s growth hub for Ag-Biotech, IT and value-added food businesses. Located in Ruakura, just a short drive from the Hamilton City Centre, the business hub sits on 17 hectares of land owned by Tainui.

Waikato Innovation Park current business community is varied in size and scale. The cluster design of the campus was deliberate to drive business-to-business collaboration, facilitated on site at the tenants’ offices, café or the vast range of workspaces. The Park also encourages relationship building throughout a range of social events to create an informal and networking friendly environment with the idea that ‘success breeds success’.

Not just an office space for businesses, Waikato Innovation Park is used as a go-to venue by locals for a mix of events, conferences, meetings, and any other networking occasions. With versatile space that inspires thinking and innovation, the Park offers various facilities and laboratory spaces available in a range of sizes.

Surrounded by green space and trees, the vibrant Park environment is what attracts workplaces to make the move to the technology hub. With room to grow, the Park is looking to continue expansion significantly in coming years to create room for more businesses to accommodate the demand.

The Park is presently home to 60 companies with over 650 employees with a surveyed $780 million gross turnover. Most of these companies are exporting, with the main markets being Australia, Europe, China and North America.

And there’s more to come with 16 buildings blueprinted for the Ruakura site to align with the park’s vision to foster business growth and innovation, CEO Stuart Gordon says.

“The growth at the Park is a sign both of Hamilton’s growth and of business development in the Waikato.”
