Harnessing Growth, Succeeding in Uncertain Times

Strength in Experience

Our market-leading commercial property team is the go-to team for relevant and complex real estate transactions and projects in Cambridge and the wider Waikato region.

Major investment in infrastructure and community development continues to unlock our region, socially and economically further enhancing Waikato’s appeal.

Although COVID-19 is an unrivalled pandemic bringing with it a melting pot of challenges for the commercial property industry, our clients have found strength in the immense level of our collective experience. This, coupled with our commitment to the vision of each client and the culture of partnership, has meant our clients feel confident in turning to us for all their legal needs, and also when they face particular challenges to their business or project.

Our team is well versed in navigating clients through some of the newer issues that are arising in the area of project financing, such as tougher banking rules and regulations, increased indemnity and personal guarantee demands, alternative private financing arrangements and renegotiating contracts.

Our legal services are designed to be swift, and if there are any delays we will keep you well informed. We aim to be accurate and efficient, and each case receives legal advice tailored to the individual situation. As a small team, you will almost always deal with the same solicitor, but we have the ability to work collaboratively between ourselves.

During the uncertain times of the Covid pandemic, we have taken three concrete steps to position Lewis Lawyers for success:

  1. We continue to experience strong growth in our commercial property hub, as we build for the future. We are delighted to have had Kate James join our commercial property team. She has quickly slotted in working with our large developers on their commercial property and development projects. Kate has been practicing since 2007 and is a specialist in the acquisition and disposal of commercial property, commercial leases with particular expertise on design and build leases, and large-scale development and infrastructure projects.
  2. We rebranded and launched a new website which truly reflects the Lewis’ brand – modern, progressive and innovative.
  3. We have increased our legal tech budget, with a focus on digital transformation. While since early 2020, we have the infrastructure in place to work seamlessly from home or the office to promote resilience and business continuity, our current work is in taking the time to ensure our entire team knows how to fully utilize and leverage the technology that, in turn, assists our lawyers and legal staff to deliver better client service, which in the end makes the firm more efficient and productive.
