Hill Laboratories are set to expand their saliva-based testing for Covid-19 following
accreditation.

Including their flagship site in Duke Street, Hamilton, the company has laboratories in Auckland, Blenheim, Christchurch, Wellington, and Tauranga.

Hill Laboratories CEO, Dr Jonno Hill, says the company will use the SalivaDirect method developed by New Zealand scientist, Dr Anne Wyllie, and her team at the Yale School of Public Health.

“As a 100 per cent NZ-owned company that has been providing analytical testing services to Kiwis for almost 40 years, we are looking forward to bringing our reputation for high quality and excellent customer service to this new area of Covid-19 testing,” Dr Hill said.

Hill Laboratories is New Zealand’s largest privately owned and independent analytical laboratory.

The accreditation means they are now fully accredited to conduct both saliva and nasopharyngeal Covid-19 swabs.

The accreditation follows the company’s successful saliva testing which it started in late 2020, with the service initially focused on the aged care sector.

As an accredited testing laboratory, the testing can now be expanded, with the focus on delivering saliva testing throughout New Zealand.

Hill Laboratories made significant investments setting up the test offering and now has the capacity to process up to 4000 samples a day.

In the first instance, Hill Laboratories will be collaborating with sample collection specialists to provide Covid-19 saliva testing services to New Zealand businesses.
