Montana extends hospice sponsorship

An annual Hospice Waikato fund-raising banquet has been given a further two years’ support from Montana Food and Events.

Fresh from the success of the 2019 Hospice Waikato, Montana Food and Events Bucket List Banquet, the partnership has been extended for two more years.

The May 17 dinner raised over $370,000 for the work of Hospice Waikato at its main base in Hamilton, from where it provides its home-based care service to Waikato.

The impact of its work, and its support for the total community working through life ending or life limiting illnesses and conditions, has prompted Montana owners Dallas Fisher and Troy Reid to increase and extend their support.

“Hospice does tremendous work in our community and as members of that community we take our role and responsibility to it very seriously,” Fisher said.

“We are both committed to support the work of Hospice and are proud to have been associated with the Bucket List Dinner since it started in 2012.”

In the past four years Montana’s sponsorship included covering the cost of all food and beverage enjoyed by guests at the showpiece event. During this period Hospice Waikato raised more than $1.4 million at the dinners.

“’This is clearly a huge commitment for us, but something that gives us the same level of satisfaction,” Reid said. “We are thrilled that the banquet has grown from the initial 400 in 2012 to this year’s 980. We hope we can make it 1000 plus in 2020.’

Hospice Waikato CEO Craig Tamblyn thanked Fisher and Reid “Without the support of business leaders like Dallas and Troy our work and the support we give to our communities would be severely limited.

“The funds raised at the Montana Food and Events Bucket List Dinner are vital and we simply cannot thank them and the team at Montana enough.”

• Hospice is taking bookings for next year’s event, to be held on May 22.
