Peter Stark steps down as Montana general manager

Long-standing Montana general manager, and former shareholder, Peter Stark is standing down from his role as general manager of Hamilton-based Montana Food & Events.

Group director Dallas Fisher said Stark’s commitment and contribution to the business in the last 17 years had been “immense”.

“From starting the business in 2002 together, then to significant growth with the joining of Troy Reid as a shareholder in 2005, Peter has led the Waikato operations with huge energy and skill.”

Stark has been one of the pillars of the events, functions and conference scene for more than two decades. He will continue to work full time in the business for the next 12 months taking specific responsibility in a range of training roles and leadership in special project areas.

The change to Stark’s role has been part of a four year succession plan for the Waikato business which started with his moving out of his role as a shareholder/director at that time. Since 2014, the business has been owned 50-50 by Troy Reid and Dallas Fisher.

The new general manager will be Pat Mellsop, who has had a combined role as marketing manager of Montana Group and 37 South Events for the last 18 months.

“Pat’s extensive experience in New Zealand and the UK in the area of professional sports marketing and commercial areas is proving to be very valuable for Montana,” Fisher said.

“His management experience and inclusive style has been a great fit into the Montana Way.’

The change came into effect immediately after the HSBC New Zealand Sevens in January.
