Legacy automation organisations join forces

Two established automation specialists have joined forces, with Hamilton-based Combined Technologies (CTEK) acquiring Auckland-based Production Logistics (PLNZ).

CTEK was founded in 2004, its team of engineers providing independent system integration, automation control, and IT data interface solutions across a range of industries in New Zealand, Australia, Asia, South Korea and Pakistan. CTEK was also recently audited for 15027001 for its Cyber Security service.

PLNZ was founded in 1989 as an electrical automation and control system integrator working primarily for the manufacturing sector designing, installing and servicing PLC based automation and SCADA applications.

CTEK managing director Bob Stokes said the acquisition was exciting for CTEK, fulfilling a strategic aim to grow the company’s influence across industrial automation in New Zealand, The Pacific Islands, Australia and the United States.

“Allan and Val Orr, the founders of PLNZ, have created a legacy organisation which has demonstrated extraordinary innovation in electrical automation and control system integration.

“CTEK has been on a growth phase for a number of years with strong financial results. Our acquisition of PLNZ accelerates that growth phase, giving us a base in Auckland and incorporating PLNZ’s unique and specialist skillset into the CTEK team.”

He said it will be business as usual for both teams. PLNZ will become a division of CTEK, positioning the companies to deliver a more diverse suite of services to existing and future clients.

Allan Orr will continue to manage and lead PLNZ for the foreseeable future.
