Will New Zealand’s economy get better or worse over the next year?


At a national level, the Labour-led Government continues to battle to gain business confidence. Auckland Chamber of Commerce chief executive Michael Barnett says 44 percent of 800 Auckland businesses surveyed feel the economy will deteriorate over the rest of the year. Reasons given for this are Auckland Council’s proposed 11.5 cent fuel tax and perceptions of slow Governmental progress on infrastructure and housing.

Last month’s results: Do you support Hamilton City Council spending more on cycleways?

Waikato Business News readers overwhelmingly support more spending on cycleways in Hamilton. We asked readers if they supported Hamilton City Council plans to up its spend on cycleways and look at more off road cycleways similar to the recently opened Western Rail Trail. Ninety-three percent of readers supported the move and only seven opposed.
